McKayla Rose Maroney was an American gymnast who retired in 2012. Also, she is an accomplished singer. She took home both silver and gold medals at the vault contests of both the American gymnastics team and for the Fierce Five in the Summer Olympics in 2012. Early life. McKayla Rose Maroney, daughter of Erin (died in the year 2019) and Mike Maroney, was born on the 9th of December, 1995, Aliso Viejo. McKayla comes from Irish Catholic heritage. She is the younger sister of Tarynn Kav. Maroney told us she "when I was a kid, I was a fan of Tarzan and then run around on my all-fours. My mom would say, "I should put this child into gymnastics." Lauren was briefly in Topeka as a single person however she was plagued by the memories of her being kicked out of the church and her family.
